Kvindernes glemte kapitel i dansk fodboldhistorie får endelig sin plads i rampelyset her 50 år efter en legendarisk VM-kamp i Mexico. En fantastisk og farverig film med alt den drama og spænding, man kan forvente af et ægte eventyr.

I sommeren 1971 mødes verdens bedste landshold til VM i fodbold i Mexico. Turneringen ligner ikke noget, der er set før, og det er muligt, at du aldrig har hørt om den. For spillerne på banen er kvinder, og både FIFA og de nationale fodboldforbund afviste ideen. Derfor blev det uofficielle verdensmesterskab i kvindefodbold skrevet ud af historien, og har været derude indtil nu. For via farverige arkivklip, som ingen har set i et halvt århundrede, og nye interviews med spillerne selv, udfylder ’Copa 71’ hullerne i det kollektive hukommelsestab.

Landsholdspillere beretter om de surrealistiske dage i Latinamerika, hvor kvindefodbolden indtog verdensscenen og fyldte aviserne, tv-skærmene og radiofladen. De danske landsholdslegender, Birthe Kjems og Ann Stengaard, ser tilbage på turneringen og finalen, hvor 112.000 tilskuere sad klar på Estadio Azteca i Mexico City for at se dem spille mod værtsnationen.

ABOUT TONIGHT'S FILM

A forgotten chapter in Danish football history finally gets its place in the spotlight 50 years after a legendary World Cup match in Mexico. A film with women in all the leading roles and with all the drama and excitement you would expect from a true adventure.

In the summer of 1971, the world's best national teams meet for the World Cup in Mexico. The tournament is unlike anything you've ever seen before, and it's possible you've never heard of it. Why? The players on the pitch were women, and both FIFA and the national football associations rejected the idea. As a result, the unofficial Women's World Cup was written out of history and has remained out there until now.

Through colourful archive clips that no one has seen for half a century and new interviews with the players themselves, 'Copa 71' fills in the gaps in the collective amnesia. National team players recount the surreal days in Latin America when women's football took the world stage and filled the newspapers, TV screens and radio airwaves. Danish national team legends Birthe Kjems and Ann Stengaard look back on the tournament and the final, where 112,000 spectators sat in the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City to watch them play against the host nation.

Bagefter sætter vi os sammen til rette i URBAN 13, hvor Anusha Samia Siddiq, der er en del af de lokale street-helte Pannahouses crew, går på scenen og fortæller sin historie og et par fodboldanekdoter som optakt til filmen 'Copa 71'.

Anusha startede med at spille panna i sommeren 2020, men har allerede et helt specielt flow med vilde moves.

Come and join local street heroes Pannahouse's open and free football training at Street Under Buen from 17.00-19.00.

Everyone can join - both beginners and experienced!
For the training, you can try out playing panna, teach tricks, play 3vs3 and most importantly, be a part of a community around the ball.

Afterwards we settle down together in URBAN 13, where Anusha Samia Siddiq, who is part of Pannahouse's crew, goes on stage and tells her story and a few football anecdotes as a prelude to the film 'Copa 71'.

Anusha started playing panna in the summer of 2020, but already has a very special flow with wild moves.
